Entirely up to you i work on Ford's just purchased a Punto probably stupid idea! lol, Normally located on top of exhaust ! save hassel go to a garage! Senses wot gasses its kicking out, if too high it will fail emmision test on a MOT

On my punto the lambdasensor is locatate on the downpipe. I can see it just opening the hood. Think it would be simple to change, since its very much room in the engineroom.

yeah my car had problems at mot they couldnt hold the revs steady at 2500 for the emissions test i thought they were just idiots lol but they just disconnected the rev sensor
and just seemed to guess or they just couldnt care and passed it lol either way i dint mind. only just found out on this forum that the revs thing was sign of lambda sensor

It is not that difficult

I dont know on the 1.2 16V where exactly fitted but this is how generally done.

Start looking from the exhaust manifold to the down pipe and you will see something getting into the pipes like a spark plug. This is the first one and second one is usually after the cat. Continue looking from down pipe to the back of the cat and you will find it.

It is difficult to miss them

To unscrew the first you will need probably a 22 spanner. Follow the cable from the sensor to where is connected. Usually it is protect by a piece of plastic so unscrew the plastic and disconnect the sensor.

Follow the same procedure for the second one.

REMEMBER: Remember where the first and where the second is plugged, do not mix the plugs, the engine will not work perfect

IMPORTANT: Do not start the engine without the sensors it could cause problems to cat due to rich air/fuel mixture

Not sure the mk1 only has one, i would try replacing the one nearest the engine first as thats more lickly to get knackered as it gets hotter,
