Technical Known problems

just wondered if there were any known problems with puntos regarding oil usage, I seem to need to top up all the time, Its away to go in next week, But just want to know if they are known problems that i check myself before forking out for something stupid and simple

Sounds like an obvious one, but check the sump plug isnt knackered, I had that problem recently as did a few other punto drivers I know

I don't know of any particularly common faults with Puntos that lead to high oil consumption, other than head gasket failure, worn valve guides or piston rings, or of course leaks. Have a look around and underneath the engine for signs of oil leakage, and have someone rev your engine while you watch for blue exhaust smoke.
