Knocking noise

Over the last week or so, seem to have developed an intermittant knocking noise from rear driver side of my 155HGT.

Hard to describe & pin point but sounds like a cracking/knocking noise.

It seems ok on really smooth roads, but will still do it, and on rough roads it probably does it more, but not always when you would expect it to.

Any thoughts

wheel bearing

How long since it had new rear shocks?

Dumb to ask but did U do this?

Seat Fixing
Fold the back seats down, get some electrical tape,  and wrap it around the passenger side bracket of the rear seat about three times, now replace the rear seats.
This is due to the bracket being slightly too thin, and allowing the rear seat to move a bit.

Did mine on both sides, and now all is OK

Sorry for the delay,
As far as I am aware, the shocks are original.
Is there any rubber bushes that ware out?

It seems to handle ok, but its bugging the hell out of me.

It def seems to be coming from the driver side rear under the car.

I will check the rear seats, but to be honest, I've never had them down yet and the problem has only become apparent in the last week or so.

I've tried to replicate the noise by bouncing the rear end but without success.

How old is it?

The only bushes on the back are on the shocks, and if they are the originals they are probably ****ed along with the shocks.

I've just bought some stilo 17's, you may remember the threads about spacers!!!

I don't want to fit them yet if the shocks are nacked, as the lower profile will make the problem worse.

I may look at getting some replacement fiat shocks all round. I don't want to lower so std is fine.

What components will I need & what should I be looking to pay for parts & fitting

Neil

I'll put money on your shocks being truly ****ed if they are really 79k old :)

Bilstein OEM gas shocks, £30ish each for the rears, £50-60ish each for the fronts. Or KYB which are a bit cheaper.

Rears are a doddle, jack, a 15mm ring spanner and a 15mm socket on an extension. 20 mins to do both.

would I need new springs or suspension arm bushes also?

How would I know if the shocks are original?
What do Fiat fit as std?

Tom, you fancy lending your services at Donny? ;)
