Can anyone offer me any advice please.

I have an 18 month old Sei Sporting which has developed an intermitent klonking noise coming from the back. Fiat have replaced the rear shocks under warranty but within three miles of leaving the garage, it was evident the klonk still remains.

I have read other postings which mention the 'rear suspension arm bushes' may have gone which I will suggest to the Fiat garage when I return.

However, I have noticed that my 14" abarth alloys at the rear do not have a lot of space between the BACK of the alloy and the inside of the wheel arch. Could this be the problem? Has anyone experienced a problem with them knocking the wheel arch at all?

I need to have a few ideas to take with me cos, as always, the garage never seem to be able to sort anything out 1st time. Last problem took 6 trips!

Thanks.

Is it just totally random, or when going over large bumps (build quality isnt that great!!) )or when turning (rear bearing??)???

Might just be part of the exhaust rattling- my centre section does it, I just cant be bothered to sort it out cos it means getting under the car and mashing it with a 2lb lump hammer!!

Give the exhaust rear pipe a good rive around and see if thats hitting anywhere, might be a worn exhaust rubber (if they can wear)

It is when going over potholes, manhole covers etc., but not when I'm turning. I will check the exhaust though - I just presumed the Fiat garage would have done this already. Silly me!!

Thanks for your help.

Could be the rear suspension bushes, but the car's not very old for that - how many miles has it done?

Check as Tom says, plus the daft things - it's not the spare wheel loose in the boot or anything, is it?

Could be an unsupported handbrake cable rattling too...

I had that once in my 899cc, Forgot to put the wheel thing in, and tie the jack down, and the back-end was rattling like nothing else...real noisy!!

With the 1242cc, its like that anyway, cos theres no bungee to strap it down with, and that coupled with the rattly parcel shelf (own design) = lots of noise from the arse!!
