Hi,
I purchased my 1st ever car today, a '96 Bravo HLX 1.8 - but i have a problem. It only came with the 3rd 'Code Key' (the one with the button & little red light) and it has no 'Code Cards'.
So i was wondering how would I go about getting a new Red Key &/maybe the 1st Blue Key and how much it would cost. Also could I get the Code for the key I have incase I need to do the emergency start?

Cheers!!(y)

No Code Card for the Bravo so you dont have to worry about that. No Red key maybe an issue, although I believe it is posible to have a copy made of the key you have already which should still work with the imobiliser.

Otherwise getting a new red key would cost around £500 or so as it requires new locks fitted to the car

Ive got the 1.8!

Ok cheers ppl!

One more question though, if I unplug the battery or take the stereo out will I need the red key to get it to work? The owners book says I need the code cards to get it to 'boot up' but someone said the bravo doesn't have these cards?!?!

Thankz again for your replys!

I got told a new red key is around £1500, due to new on-board and new locks?

you can disconnect the battery without needing the red key. the red key holds a code which is stored on the ecu. the blue keys have codes which are learnt by the ecu using the red key. if you have a ecu fault and it loses the key codes only the red key will work. without the red key the ecu cannot relearn any blue keys. if you only have a blue key and this happens you will have to get new keys, locks and ecu. i've seen websites where they can manually reprogram your ecu and provide new red keys or blue keys, thats the easiest option and avoids new locks and ecu. its about £200.
