General key problems

hi ive just brought a seic ,,nice black sx with full service history and only 42k on the clock on a y plate ,,

but have 1 problem the 2 keys i got with it only 1 of them work

the blue 1 i got unlocks the car and starts the car fine

the other is just a plane key with no plastic in the end of it this key will unlock the car and fit the ignition ok and turn over the engine but will not start the car

there is a light comes on the dash with a key and a lock on it any ideas guys

and is there away of unlocking this key so it works e.g proggraming it

That key will need to be recoded, it is quite expensive, contact your local Fiat dealership, they will do it for you

If its a basic key it may not have the chip in it. Y plate might need the red key for coding, and I am guessing that you don't have that. Run a search for the type of keys in the FAQS in your sig.

so it's just a metal key?

Y plated sei should be a code2 system so there will be no red key involved
