Tuning K &N filter, need help!

i own a grande punto 1.4 t-jet, today i swaped the air box with a k&n air filter! the filter at 1st start up and rev sounded amazing, although after a few revs of the engine, the engine management kicked in! now my car will not rev past 2,500rpm! please please help!!

sounds like its gone into limp home mode. maybe it aint fitted right?

have you got an induction kit? or a replacment panel filter?

im sure someone with a t-jet will be along to help and give you some advice

thank you, am sure i have fitted it correctly i have put everything back to standerd and the car is still doing the same, i have got the cone style k&n

a mate also said that i could have damaged the sensors in the intake pipe i was wondering if anyone could confirm it could be that as he drives a pug lol

And how exactly did you fit it? Yes it will still be the same as the ecu thinks something is wrong so it has gone into limp mode to protect it. £60 at your dealer to turn it off thank you very much.

thank you very very much matt! glad its nothing serious was praying i never did any serious damage lol errr i fitted it by sliping it over the stock air intake pipe ohhh and whilst am there the ****ers can sort out my esp and hill hold due to the fact it keeps turning its slef off lol

matt what engine mods have you got to get the 150bhp mark? i would love to make 180 but dont know were to start lol

Take the KnN off and sell it to some chav. Its not gonna benefit the car in anyway.


180 bhp you need : a good induction kit (GSR) not just an air filter. Exhaust, Intercooler, Abarth Turbo and a remap = £1700-2000 before fitting of anything and depending on cost of remap.

150 bhp GSR and remap. £400+ depending on cost of remap

Dis-connect the battery for a good 20mins, it might do the trick, or buy one of those diagnostic things on ebay, only cost around 20pounds, it can read and clear some fault codes, not all, it works on my stilo. good luck.

you will need to reset your clock (then again you will need to take the hour off it anyway)

Might want to put your standard air box back on if you're going to the dealers as they could knock it on warranty. Probably something to do with the MAF sensor, had the same problem when we induction kitted my mates swift sport the other week.

Tjet doesn't have a MAF sensor.

That's why it's very strange the light came on.It shouldn't...

Maybe sth else caused it..

If you're serious about adding power to the TJET you might want to see if you can lay you're hands on some faster cams as well before the remap, gas flow wouldn't hurt either
