Hi all,

I am a new member with a new car!, a 1997 R registered Fiat Punto 60S in Bronze. I drove the car home from where I bought it on a two hour journey and noticed now and again the car would judder usually in 4th or 5th gear?

Anybody know what this could be?

Any help or advice appreciated.

Regards,

Widdy

It isnt the clutch it was a new clutch on the car :-(

Its not when I change gear, its when I am in the gear if that makes sense.

welcome to the forum :) try adding a bottle of fuel injection cleaner to the next tank of petrol you buy

Does that stuff really work?

oh and regarding tyres pressures, what pressure should standard punto tyres be?

Have you got your car's manual? It should tell you the tyre pressures in there ;)

Didnt come with a manual, is there an online version anywhere?

Well an update to the problem...

I took my car to the garage this morning and it looks like a coil problem and either 1 or 2 will need replacing. ouch! and expensive repair.

Where are these coils located and what is their function?

Further info:

Well the coil has been fitted and same problem, even the garage is stumped.
any help now really appreciated.

have you done them leads and plugs yet?

Garage said leads and plugs were fine, it is pi**ing me off, I cannot afford this so close to xmas.

dont trust a garage, when its dark with engine running look under bonnet at leads see if you see any sparks dancing around on them if so they knackered.

Ok, i have pushed for new HT leads and spark plugs which have been fitted now so I will see how she starts tomorrow morning in the cold. The garage has also replaced some sort of temp sensor which aparaently tells the ECU what petrol amount to use??!!

I am stll getting the judder problems though when accelerating hard in any gear, could this be the crank shaft sensor - the gargage suggests it might be whilst sucking air through his teeth - lol

Any further advise is welcomed!

Will these problems never end?

The work done to date:

New spark plugs and leads
New fan belt
New temp control sensor

and now new TDC sensor

and still I have problems starting (first start of day only) and still juddering on hard acceleration.

i had a really old fiesta for my first car with this problem ... if you run it for half an hour or so till its nice and warm the problem goes away yea?

never did fix it (n)

to be fair i didnt try very hard ... the car only cost me 300 quid :D

good luck

Well the car cost me a thousand and thats a lot of money for me and apart from the work I have had done is amzing passed its MOT last week and had a mini-service at the time of the MOT.

I am starting to wish I stuck to my 13 year old Astra.
