Just bought an 82 Spyder 2000

I was loving it for about two weeks. This was a frame off resto job. 230 mi on new motor. (Or aprox 90K)Now having back firing and idle issues. It will run great, but if I put to much gas on it, it actually quit on me the other day after a HUGE back fire,and had to let it sit for an hour. Then idled rough, then ran fine until today, now it wants to idle at about 2Krpms again?? any help...other that telling me to sell it?? (Won’t do it) Oh I'm NOT a mech. as you can tell.

Sounds like its running rich hence the back firing when you hit the gas.

could be an ignition timing issue or cam timing?

Make sure its timed properly. Backfiring would normally be an ignition issue first. Also check your plug wires good.
