Hi

My wife's cinquecento sporting has an annoying problem i can't get to the bottom of. When you take your foot off the throttle, when the speed drops to say 2000-3000 revs the engine starts to stutter but as soon as you re-apply the throttle (even a fraction) it's fine again.
Have replaced plugs,ht leads,fuel filter,air filter.Any ideas?

Pete

Ditto, both my 1108cc Centos have done it in a mild form. Makes it very clutch intensive if you want a smooth ride in slow traffic.

seems to be the same with mine, but it might not be quite the same. mines always done it, even when running perfect

i think it happens to most of these cars between 2k-3k. i get loss of power and a slight juddering. how bad is the juddering on yours.. if its really bad then i pressume something else is the problem..

I had it, assumed that it was normal, and forgot about it. I don't notice it now, but I did replace my fuel filter. Replacing the fuel filter got rid of a funny noise when the engine was under load, I don't know whether it would've solved this problem too, cos I don't notice it now. If your fuel filter is overdue a replacement, then I'd recommend replacing that anyway, I don't know whether it would solve this juddering problem though.

btw my car's an 899cc.

Yes i have it too, Mildly... :) LOL, but i have a bleedi flat spot - the Seems like the engine cuts out for a second then cuts in again - Can wheelspin slightly if it happens when ur flooring it.. Wierd but i like it - don't seem to healthy thou..

my old cinqucento 899cc used to do it (used to love pumping the accelerator and making the car jerk back and forth lol used to scare the crap out my mates lol) and even my seicento does it when im in 1st or 2nd gear slowing down for traffic the car judders think its a common problem

Its not anything like there is an air bubble in your fuel tank causing the judder could it???

Hey - I've just started having this problem, I noticed it while stuck in Motorway traffic, only really in 3rd Gear, decelerating the car would Judder, kind of like when ur in the wrong gear. Mines a 899cc, and i swear it's only just started. Also, seems like the car is a bit more hesitant under acceleration, like maybe the clutch is slipping or something.....

Any Ideas?

Have you checked your engine mountings?
this sounds like problem, i just has same issue, was my engine mountings by the looks of it, seems alot better now ive had fixed. Does it make a bit of a creeky noise too?

Hmmm I guess could be the engine mountings, ain't no creaky sound tho. Although sometimes when i start the car it does sort of shake around a bit, but as soon as the tappets quiet down so does the shaking, til smooth as the M6Toll. Might check em out....

Thinking about it, its not anything such as the car tellling you to change gear is it

EDIT-That is a stupid answer

I'll tell you what it is - or at least what it was on the yellow sei i used to have.

A stipped thread on one of the front hubs where the wheel bolts go into.

Prevented the wheel being done up properly. even if the accelorator was on even slightly it wouldn't be there. Then take foot off accelorator and sounded like the engine was bouncing about everywhere.

Get the front hubs checked out. Take both front wheels off and do normal checks to see if they're tight enough etc. If any of the bolts won't go tight, the wheel will judder.

Cost me £130 for a new hub, new bearings set and new bolts, fitted.

i thought the same as you... gearbox mounts, engine mounts, fuelling etc. It wasn't - just that the wheel wasn't on tight enough because the thread was stripped in one of the drivers side bolt holes in the hub.

Get it checked.(y)
