My GT JTD is well down on power-it drives like an ordinary diesel but, sometimes, I get full power for a few seconds. This usually happens when you really need it, like in slow traffic. It has spent about six days with my local Feet dealer who agrees with me on the power loss but cannot find the reason. Their computer says everything is rosy. They changed the airflow meter which made it work for about fifteen miles but then it was back to the usual deadness. When the power drops off the sound of the engine goes from a healthy "whoosh" to an empty growl. This is usually after braking. Does anyone know how the EGR valve works and what would happen if it jammed open?
All ideas welcome. Thanks.

Bill

Hi i also had that, but mine was just after my car was serviced.... if would just slow down from 70 to 50 and i could put my foot down and nothing would happen..... After getting this checked the dealership said there was a loose conection one of the connectors wasn't pushed in correctly?

I'll try and find out which connector!

what do you think of the JTD then? I've got one i'm happy enough for now!!

Re: Re: jtd power loss

My dad had a similar problem with a fiat 1.9td engine. fiat changed every part in the engine includng the turbo about 3 times until they discovered it was a valve right at the back. with it being a ulysee they had to take the engine right out to get at it.

I don't know what valve it was though :(

thanks

Thanks for the help, people. Fiat still haven't sorted it but life must go on. Tried to respond to this ages ago but I wasn't allowed in for some reason.I like the JTD; it's economical and fast (when it goes) and I'm quite happy with it.

Thanks again,

Bill
