General jtd engine turns off after 3500 rpm

hi,
can enybody tell me why punto jtd mk2 engine turns off every time when i press on accelerator pedal and the engine rpm are greather than 3500 rpm.Engine stops imidiately but If the acceleration is smoother nothing hapens.When the enine go off the red (chek engine) bulb is on and the erorr on the examiner is something about fuel presure but the presure is ok.Please help me if enybody know something about it.

Sounds like its running in 'limp mode'.

Is there much point in going to 3.5k rpm and above? I'd have thought the max power would be at around 3000 rpm.

the power can sometimes be lacking due to dirt in the fuel filter. it should have hoses with little buttons one in and one for out. press the buttons in and remove the filter then clear it of fuel and flush it with a little clean fuel from a can. making sure you dont just throw loads of fuel down. and then reconnect and check.

If that seems to work then it reapears I sujest you empty the fuel tank clean it out and fill it agian then change the fuel filter.
