just a few problems have popped up in the last week or 3!
sorry if its 1 of my monthly essays to the forum.

comformation that the head gasket is going made itself know, water it dripping out from the front and back of the block where the gasket line is.
noticed i was losing water a few weeks back but thought it might be a dodgy water pipe or the water pump (after all fiat fitted the water pump a year ago) anyway i'm losing power by the day and its a nice reason for a 1.2 conversion.

on the way to my girlfriends (15m of m6 to brum) last weekend was finding it a lot harder then normal! to get it into gear and on the way home couldnt get 1st chunched into 2nd -3rd and hard to get 4th + 5th.
by the time got home the clutch pedal was 3 inches off the floor and was engaging at about .5cm up!
the cable is pulled out as far as it can go so i thought twist the rubber thing on the clutch lever 1/4 of a turn so it brings the clutch pedal inline with the brake.
this has worked a treat i can get all gears with no crunching in to reverse, just thinking how much time is left on the clutch.

last thing on the list wheel barings there all totally Fooked rear N/S can move about 3mm and all the others wine like... Something rude.

Bad news with the gasket, but good news on the impending 1242!

I'd reckon you have a very short time before the clutch cable snaps - the end inside the car is probably bent now, hence the adjustment needed.

Rear bearings are dead easy to do, can be bought for £20 odd each. Fronts are more tricky.

its a very informative and helpful sticky on the 1.2 conversion fixit, and its managed to get my dad interested in cars again!

the thing with the clutch.. had a new 1 fitted with a new cable pretty much a year ago by fiat, surely a clutch should last longer then that.

also ive heard that puntos can suffer from a bent clutch pedal, has any1 heard of this in a cento before?

ive just bought 2 new rear bearing hubs from shop4parts, what is the time scale to sort out the rears then.
will probably get a garage to do the fronts.

thanks for the help/info

The rears should be simple, but the inboard inner race can stick on the stub axle and need pulling off (oo, that sounds rude) which usually isn't too difficult to do. Budget on 2 hours a side for the rears if you're doing it and you'll probably finish early :)

The clutch cable could have worked loose if it wasn't tightened up properly.
