Technical It smells like burnt rubber! (& ex-royal mail telemetry questions)

Heyo,

Got an ex-royal mail 2014 1.6 diesel XL van 50k

After a bunch of short trips around town helping a friend move, a very strong smell of burning rubber hit the nose. Mechanic said they couldn't smell anything and therefore did nothing next day when I took her in...

Where do I start?

- Aux belt?
- Checking hoses touching hot things?

Also, I I need help getting rid of the royal mail installed shouty-handbrake lady. (she yells at me to put the handbrake on when I leave the vehicle). I

suspect she's the reason my brand new battery is discharged? Is her existence a parasitic drain on the electrics? And how do I get rid of her. (I have no experience doing this).

Any other things I should check/change on my ex-royal mail lovely lady?

Are you sure it is rubber and not an oil drip onto the exhaust?
After a run if you open the bonnet any signs of smoke or can you smell it stronger in one area?
I assume engine is running at normal temp?
No antifreeze leak?
You may be able to change lady settings on on screen display.
I have the 2010 Doblo Maxi1.6 which I think is similar with wrap around headlights.
Is there any sign of engine parts recently changed as they may smell until bedded in, even some exhausts.
