how much is it going to cost to sort it out, how serious is it?

Maybe, you will probably need to have the head skimmed though, which needs a machine shop.

Well you can sort it yourself, but you need some kinda knowlegde, and like fix it says if it needs skimming then u need the right stuff.
Depends on how bad it is.
Also this kind of weather won't help matters, u don't want rain water in the wrong places since water is a problem that needs fixing!

Cheers for the advice everyone, its booked in, luckily the head gasket seems to be covered under the 3 month warranty I got with the car. Hopefully when this is sorted it'll be the end of the problems for a while, at least it better be.
