With 40 mile left go showing on the fuel computer I decided I had better fill Squirrile up, she took 35.08 litres

Now the tank is declared as 35 litres, which I have exceeded, and I would guess that there should have been a good 4 litres left in it.

Which leaves me wondering:

A) is the good doctor missing his Tardis ?
B) should Fiat have called it the hamster because it's storing food in it's cheek pouches ?
C) who is the liar, the garage pump ? the car ? Fiat ?

I reckon if you're brimming a Panda or a 500 it's 40l or so.

I'm going to rename the Panda to Pinnochio

After doing 75 miles it said I still had 640 miles in the tank !! yeah right next it will tell me MEP never makes a mistake !!! (hint time - see the IOTY thread)

I find the 500 stupid like that too. Tells you that you've got 600 miles then towards the end wimps out at about 440.

I just had the same experience, my trip was showing 40 miles range, but the car took 34.4 litres !
It took me by suprise as my last Panda (06) would take only 30 litres at this point. I think in future the orange light will mean start looking for a garage.

The more the week has gone on, it appears that for some strange reason it took more fuel than normal. I think when I fill up on Monday or Tuesday my figures will be better than normal.

I fill it till the 1st click, then wait about 10 seconds and fuel till it clicks again and then I pull the nozzle out and then fill very slowly till I can actually see that no more fuel will physically go in so I can actually see the fuel sitting at the top of the filler hose and not going down :)

Out of interest Trev and others, when doing your Brim to Brim do you go until the first cut-off click, or just click away until you think your about to have it poor out?

The latter,

If you look at my Fuelly log you can see the last one is out of character, it took more than the previous one, and that had nothing left on the trip, whereas this one had 40 mile left (in both cases the trip mpg was showing around 62).

At present she appears to be heading for a 450 mile tank !!! it's like I've had an airlock on every fillup bar the last !

I wonder how much is due to differing qualities in fuel perhaps?
