Insurence for young and convicted drivers :/

Insurence for young and convicted drivers :/

Hi guys am back. Spent a year at uni using my bike and now am back home and looking for insurance again so I can get to work over the summer and earn a bit of money.

Just to answer further questions. It was a District Judge who herd my case. I've herd that they can be less lenient than normal magistrates however in my case she was lenient which was my mistake.

I've recently learnt by talking to insurance brokers/companies, that it is not the history of what happened to be but the codes of the convictions I have been given. My IN14 which is the insurance conviction blacklists me for admiral/elephant all other such linked companies. My CD10 for driving without due care sky rockets my premiums as its a serious driving offence. I also have a LC24 for my friend driving with accordance of a licence. If the Judge had been harsher and given me 12 points and a ban I would have still had to redo my test however I would only have one conviction on my licence for totting up which is less risk in insurance terms than a no insurance conviction + two others.

My insurance quotes have gone down by a few hundreds however I have also discovered that if I insured my vehicle at my uni address it would be 2k cheaper. As I am living at home over the summer (june-sept), would I still be able to insure my vehicle at my uni address. The insurance companies can't make their minds up so would it be allowed??

One last thing. Seen as am blacklisted from pretty much all major insurance companies, does anybody know of any small insurance companies that specialise in young or convicted drivers, that won't mess me around like other companies have done. Much appreciated. :)

It will vary from company to company. Some will want it now as the address it is kept at the most, others the address where the V5C is registered to, and some others will note both addresses. You'll need to ask every company that you ask for a quote. (y)

With those driving codes it's safe to say you've been an epic numpty.

You "should be ok to insure your car at your Uni address as long as you spend most of your time there (which I assume you do) you may also have to keep your car there as you wouldn't be able to insure it at one address and leave it permanently on the driveway of a different address. As MEP says you might need to move the V5c address as well which if at Uni going into your second year might be a pain in the arse if your moving out of halls into a shared house, then you move a couple of times during the year.

This is all part of the punishment for what you did and though I'm sure you learnt your lesson you probably have another 4-5 years of being penalised for it

Had the judge been less leinient then you would have all the codes above plus a TT99 for totting up all other convictions would still stand and be present on your licence.

thanks guys. Still looking for a decent company that won't mess me around. Adrian Flux made it impossible to get me insured again as they cancelled my policy a month before my NCB so i've got nothing to give me a discount and have to have a special policy for cancelled drivers.
