Dude,

My old HGT was debadged and I went out and bought some Abarth badges and put them on. To anyone who didn't know, it was an Abarth Bravo, but FIAT never made such a thing, not even on the continent. The last true Abarth tuned FIAT (correct me if I'm wrong) was the Strada/Ritmo 130 TC Abarth. Since then, they released a Punto Mk2 Abarth and Stilo Abarth (both just cosmetic stylings) and of course a whole range of styling and cosmetic products (Ihear their lippy makes ur lips feel oh so soft ! LOL)

I heard a rumour once of a limited (500 examples)Tipo Sedicivalvole Abarth that produced 300+ bhp, I even spoke to a guy who claimed to have one, but I never saw it.

So unless the Torino factory produced something we don't know about, I'd say yours is an HGT
If they DID produce one, then your insurance wouldn't even cover it's worth

Very very rediculously high that premium m8, I've received a few quotes for a HGT 3rd party F+T, for £1150

I have 2 convictioncs
6 speeding points
just got my licence back after being banned for 24 months after retaking an extended test
Just turned 21

Think your best off finding another company mate, i went through www.autodirect.com they sift through 15 of the latest 'best quoters' and give you the best 3 or so. Zenith seem to consistantly be the best for me.

where do they seel abarth kits on the net? ill have a loko an see if it that. just on my registration document it says bravo abarth?? maybe someone registered it being a dick? hehe! and the stilo abarth is quite nicely tuned, it being a 2.4 litre 20v 170bhp mamma! id say that was more then cosmetics. the guy i bought mine off said it was close to 160 bhp if that helps to distinguish what my car is? bearing in mind its remapped +8bhp or something?

your right they where the last actual abarth that were made mr abarth died then they just used his name for selling cars.. there was a punto arbarth made 1990/1 but that was a prototype 1.8 16v but not sure if it was a tuned engine are they just made another

well i was expecting £1500 considering the NOS, so was well happy with £820
which by my reckoning is a bout 12% the cost of a teenager in a standard HGT with £30 of replacment badges

Genuine Abarth kits are available from all good FIAT dealers.
The Stilo is not tuned. It's an evolution of the HGT lump, and if anything, is actually "de-tuned" to conform with EU emmision regulations. What I was saying is that NO FIAT engine has been tuned by Abarth since that Strada/Ritmo 130TC Abarth.
HGT's were available in 147bhp Mk 1 then 155bhp Mk2 versions. A re-map of +8 would would get you to that 160bhp range, but trust me, unless you have a one off rarity with supporting evidence, then your car is an HGT.

Here's a picture of mine....

As you can see....No FIAT badges, just Abarth, but it was just a 147 HGT.

fair enough, mines different to yours obviously but im guessin its just a HGT then. may as well admit defeat, but when its all finished u should come look at it on a cruise somewhere, BRAVO power at its finest!!! oh found something similar tho, a reiger kit?! not the same tho very similar mine got wider arches methinks?! ah well

Take some pics and post 'em up if you can. We all like to see each others cars. Show us the engine and we can confirm it as a standard lump or not. And show us the interior and exterior. Maybe there's something different about it, maybe not.

Either way, the HGT is a beauty, and I miss mine terribly

Oh, and shop around for your insurance....£6700 is extortionate, but maybe they're trying to disuade you from driving ! Won't even ask how you can afford that premium anyway !

i got a large lump of money when my dad died, he built radars for fighter jets so he earned quite a bit lol! went on a spending spree an decided i wanted a nice car, nearly bought a Golf Tdi but i couldnt get insured, plus VW drivers r nobs, no offence anyone i just always get cut up by them!
