hi, i have problems with idle speed control valve on my bravo 1.6 16v, i have removed it, but it looks quite clean. What exactly is needed to be cleaned??

the bit you can remove is the actuator. this is basically just a pin that moves in and out. it needs to be able to move smoothly, so give it a good squirt with wd40. try switching ignition on with the wiring connector plugged in and you should see the pin move. obviously cleaning wont help a faulty actuator. the air temp sensor is another favorite for idle problems on the 1.6.

How hard was it to remove? Checking the manual it says you have to fit it back on but do not tighten the screws, then operate it using a tester until it has gone through a full cycle.

Is this required or can i remove it, spray it and put it back on all in one go?

Do i also have to remove the negative off the battery and leave it off for 20 mins as also stated?

Can you clean an air temp sensor or is a new one the only option?

Cheers

you dont need to disconnect the battery to allow a full cycle to occur before refitting. removal is simply 2 bolts (torx/ribe head). takes 30secs.

you can clean the temp sensor with wd40 if you like.
