So, as everyone probably knows, the Cinquecento's standard speaker system is, well, sh*te.

I'm in need of an upgrade, so that's what I'm going to do. Where, apart from obvious places like sub under the seat and speakers in the parcel shelf is the best place to put a coupla speakers[?]

Can they be put into the door using up some of the door bin[?]

Or can they go in the footwell[?]

What has evry1 else done[?]

Ideas and help please... [8)]

Retrim the rear side panels and shot 'em in there.

I've got Kenwood 1066's (I think) in the front dash - ok for a bit of presence but the 6x9's on the back shelf are the muscle!

The fronts are only any good for midrange and top end, I've got the fader wound towards the back a bit.

I have always been under the impression that 6x9's in any kind of car other than Saloons and coupes was a bad idea. The 6x9's are too bass heavy to be put in the parcel shelf and mess with the performance of the sub and any front speakers.

I would always stick to components in the front and components or co-axials in the back running from a four way amp with another amp running a sub. Just my 2 pence!

Agree.
If you want sound quality over quantity, avoid 6x9's in the rear.
I've just got a set of front components and a sub and everyone thats heard it says it's awesome.

However if your going do the route of getting in as many speakers as possible, learn of fiberglass and you'll get them in everywhere!:D
In the roof, doorcards, footwells, under your feet etc. You can go mad!

I'd start with a good quality set of components up front (look at the MB Quart and Infinity stuff for around £100.)

What about sound deadening? Have you any experience in using it? Im thinking of getting some 'brown bread' but unsure of its workability, that is, how well I can stuff it into the awkward little corners!

Im gonna get some 4" components up front coz I wanna keep the original locations and I need the stereo to be a bit stealthy (my dad has had two stereos nicked from our drive!) I also want some co-axials in the back but I am unsure of how to get into the rear quarter panels. The car's a 98 Cinq Sporting. Any ideas...anyone at all???[?]

Your much better spending a bit more and going for Dynamat, from experience it's much better stuff!
It's quite easy to work with, just heat it up with a heatgun first (or a hairdryer) and it goes quite soft.
If you want stealthy rear speakers try and mount them so that the speaker grills fit flush with the rear panels and then spray the speaker grills to match the colour of the surrounding plastic.

I didnt think of that, good idea. I wanna start to spray my interior but Im not sure of that folia tec stuff, heard it can crack quite badly. Anyone used it?

Pray to the God of Abarth - I hope your speed over your rivals and anyone else at the traffic lights

The Folia-tec stuffs not very good. A better bet is to take the bits of your interior/dash out take them to a bodyshop and get them to spray them using a proper compressor so you get a good finish.
They should apply a plastic primer and then be able to spray it in any colour you want.
