Ok Ok, so ice?

Wot the hell? I currently hae two 6x9's in the parcel shelf and two 10cm Sony's in the front, both running off the headunit i.e. no amps.

Now, I have noticed that there is f**k all bass form these, and i dont wanna compromise boot spce - no sub, so im thikning about making up some new MDF rear doorcards and slapping some big-ass speakers i there, some like 6/8" or some thing.

Now, do these need amping up? And while we're on the subject... amps? I figure you need them for subs, but where do they get the extra power from? I reckon they need connecting to head unit to get the electrical data from the music, but then they neeed some extra oomph from somewhere - so are they connected to the battery too?

Like i said, im a big dunce... so an idiots guide to ICE would be good - sticky perhaps.

May help out me, and other people as dumb as me (IF there are any)

i ain't no guru, but i have wired a few systems up.

amp takes input from headunit, power from battery, earth from body and a remte turn on lead from headunit.

if you want to put anothercouple of speakers in (notice i'm not saying whether this is good idea or bad idea) i'd suggest buying a 4 channel amp and connecting your new speakers to it, and also your 6x9's.

hope this helps, or at least keeps you going to someone has something better to offer!

If you want bass and dont want to compromise boot space, I would recommend an Auto Acoustics Stealth Box. Fits into the side of the boot, takes a 10" sub. Bit expensive at £150 but good. Put a sub in there, have an amplifier mounted under the seats to power the sub. Wire it up, RCA leads/remote lead to the head unit, earth lead to boot, live wire to battery and speaker wires to the sub (you can buy a wiring kit with all this). That should increase sound quality no end. And if you ever want low price high quality ICE, buy from www.cel-direct.com. Not only low prices but quick delivery too, and I mean like two days!
