I NEED HELP!!!!!! please

hi,

ive noticed a few people on here with bikes.

i was wondering if you could help me, ive just bought a 1982 yamaha xv750 on ebay, with 10 months mot and 3 months tax, i got it home and it woudnt start, so i cleaned the carbs, and put them back on, and it fired up. but when you come to touch the throttle to move it or rev it, it will just cut out on you, what could this be, any ideas.

if not, i need information asap, please.

What I know about bikes could be written on the back of a postage stamp in marker pen leaving a large margin,

but

If it were a car, ie 4 stroke, you have either too much air or too much fuel when you tweak the throttle.

When the thing dies, whip a plug out out. If its wet, its too much fuel, if its dry its too much air.
