They haven't manipulated how it looks, at least, not in the same way that they manipulate how ageing celebrities look in those crappy society magazines. They haven't altered the shape, they have instead been very clever with camera angles and lenses. If you go up to the front of a GP, sit your arse right on the tarmac in front of it, staring at the front, it looks just like it does in the advert. I know this, because I did it, in front of the salesman and my other half. It caused some embarrassment, but at least I know that the camera never lies.
Fiat's advertising agency would have spent thousands of hours thinking how best to portray their car before deciding on the final cut of that advert. My issue with the advert is that it's sh*t, not how it makes the car look. Why can't Fiat/Alfa come up with decent adverts? That new Brera ad is just plain silly.
And let's face it, no car will ever look as nice in the Crawley one way system as it does on the telly.
All that matters is that this is by far and away the best looking small/medium car money can buy, no object. It is a thing of rare and great beauty - a car that drives as well as it looks, and is still capable of all the car things, like fitting people inside, looking after them and even being kind to them when they wander out in front of it.
Remember all that fuss about how crap cars were going to look now with these pedestrian safety regulations? Bullsh*t. Here's proof.
Oh and by the way, the standard models do look good too! The beauty is in the sheet metal, and not plastic sill extensions. They just make it look sporty.
