I lost my log book and sold my car

How can I get it back? I had a Micra which I sold last week to a friend and I've lost the log book i know he wont do anything but how can I get it registered in HIS name instead of mine? thanks

he can apply for one, or you can, but think you have to pay a fee.

Thanks do you have a link I can read up about i went t othe DVLA website but it's all bloody pdf files and my comp takes hours to load those? thanks.

Phone them up. They're really nice people actually.

I had to arrange for a car to be scrapped, which had been SORN and change of owner as well as lost V5...

The nice girl on the phone listened to it all before explaining exactly what I needed to do. I had to write them a letter including details i.e. reg number, when scrapped, etc and it was all sorted

Yep, £19. I lost a V5 a while back and I had to get a replacement. Give them a call and they'll send you a form out in the post.

If you still have the green slip from when you bought the car, you can send that off with the form and that saves you the £19

The Post office "may" have them maybe. If one is on your route somewhere can always pop in and ask
