HELLO THERE - you not read the bit about child-minding :p

Six kids indeed  ;)

So he says, but who knows how many mini Stu's are running around. This child minding could be a cover for his wild past :)

Doblo

Seats 7 if it has to. 42 to the gallon on the school run with the 1.3 diesel engine and has the same footprint as a Ford Escort/Focus. Couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding until the turbo kicks in - and so ugly that it curdles milk.

It's the perfect anti-MPV/4x4. It's a van with windows.

If you lived in Hampshire you know it has many rural area's which are impossible to service effiectively with school buses. And elswhere the funding doesn't exist but this is not just the fault of people buying MPV's or 4x4's, it is anybody who does the schoold run, even the small car drivers.

Sorry but this is rubbish. I work in rural Cumbria and there are far more kids bussed to school here then there were when I lived in central Aberdeen or Midland suburbs! It's impossible to avoid the busses coming or going to one school or another on the morning run, perhaps you should contact the council as a concerned parent and get something sorted out, no good saying it just isn't there. The main problem I face on the school run is actually a primary school in north-central Carlisle full of mum's in MPVs who like nothing better than turning right out of a crossroads a few feet in front of a rather bright pink-purple car with sidelights on in broad daylight, which then has to brake to avoid them, on a rather poorly maintained bit of road. How do you think I got to my conclusion?

EDIT - shouldn't those who have MPVs and drive sensibly have a bit of anger towards those driven stupidly? I think it was cheesemaster who said that surely with your improved visibility, you would surely be able to see more people being stupid ;) These people are giving you a bad name! I hate to see Fiats of any kind driven stupidly, for example, it makes me ashamed to own one almost

It's not rubbish, because of the population density here and lack of school places, the kids are spread across many schools and it is often difficult if not impossible to get your kid into the local one. Therefore a bus network would involve to many destinations to be practical. Buses do run where possible, but it is not the complete solution unfortunately.

What annoys me about the majority of these comments and you have done it yourself now is that you pick on one group of people driving MPV's and generalise. I can guarantee you also have the same problem with school run cars pulling out in front of you. Just because proportionally there may be more MPV's than cars doesn't mean that more MPV's are driven badly compared to cars. If 20 MPV's drive on the school run and only 10 cars, then if 2 MPV's cut you up and only 1 car it appears that MPV's are worse drivers, but proportionally they are not. The greater the number of MPV's the greater the differential will be. In Italy there are loads more Fiat's on the road, so you could say Fiat drivers are worse drivers because you are more likely to be cut up by one than a Ford driver.

I am annoyed at all drivers who drive badly, but when statistically you can't say MPV's are driven worse I will not pick on them. I have been cut up by lot's of modified cars, but I don't say they are always driven worse than any other group, because I have no way to be sure.

And they are not giving me a bad name, unfounded generalisations do far more damage. Nearly everything bought up as an argument against MPV's can also be applied to other cars. I have heard the same argument on this forum about bad driving by BMW's owners etc, so where do you stop. I have also seen loads of complaints from people on this forum who say the police pick on modified cars and that it's unfair for them to generalise, but that is what is happening here and you appear to support it.

I got annoyed by Cheesemaster because he made statements when in fact they are just his assumptions and opinions.

Thanks , you too. Threre's nothing wrong with a strong debate on different opinions, it doesn't mean people are getting wound up at all.. Don't take these things so seriously ;).

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree, but it was fun debating it with you.:)

On the subject of BoB stickers...
is it kinda like the Delhi security feature... if you get in a car in delhi, they drive like nutters, but they know they will be safe, becuase they hang those new security devices from the mirror (the religious placard things).
I find that the BoB is like a statement to other drivers to say "wow... I could have been in trouble driving, but now i've got this thing.. i'll be alright no matter what" as if it's somebody else's responsibility to watch how they drive.

And can we start this arguement up again, it was fun reading, while i waited to wake up properly! :D
