I bought a new 'un... Bora sold!

I was kinda hoping you'd give me a decent job down your way, so i could afford one of my own actually...

Dont really fancy sharing my 400bhp 535D with anyone either, so thats outta the question too...

It did occur to me though, that as i blast down the, err, private racetrack, alongside the ferraris and lambo's, that no-one will see me for all my smoke.... ah well...

What will it matter when you're getting 30MPG and everyone else is getting less than 5?

:)

There was a chicken and a horse playing together on a farm one day. The horse fell into a mud pit and yelled to the chicken to run to the house and get the farmer. The chicken ran to the house and the farmer was nowhere to be found. So, it got into the farmer's BMW and pulled the horse out with it.
The next day the chicken and the horse were playing on the farm again. This time the chicken fell into the mud pit and yelled to the horse to get help. So, the horse stood over the mud pit and told the chicken to grab on to his ***** and he'd pull him out. The chicken grabbed on and, indeed, the horse pulled him out.

The moral of the story: If you're hung like a horse, you don't need a BMW to pick up chicks.

plain and boring. seems good cond for the mileage. i could think of worst cars

Smart looking motor Ian. I know you spent ages toying with what to get so glad you found something to tide you over until you can afford something silly :)

Just one thing missing from the Beemer tho... BOO badges ;)

Indeed Insy - This is purely a gap car until I can afford a 330d/335d (assuming Buzz will lend me some money for the 335d variant), so will remain completely standard, unabused and ridiculously cheap to run, as I've just found out with a whopping 54MPG. Not bad at all really as it's a bloody big car!

Cheers for the nice comments by the way :)

Dude, i spent almost an hour looking at BMW 535D porn last week... reading tons of reviews, details on how the variable vane turbo geometry works, (at least, i think thats its name) and lovin lots of pics and specs. I soooo want one. And despite my earlier considerations on tuning it to 400bhp, i think the standard DMS tune giving 344bhp at 4200rpm and 506lb ft of torque at 2570rpm will be plenty for me for at least a year or two, lol.

EVO magazine had this to say about a DMS mapped 535D last year.

DMS remap is £750 though i note than Angel and a few other remap resellers sell what looks like the same or similar map for around £500

And to think in just 2 years i just might have the cash/earning potential to buy such a monster. Albeit still a 2005 model when i get it, lol. (Any word on that job Ian?)

Unfortunately Buzz no job available, although I did end up with an 8.9% payrise last week, which means I'm nearing my x35d.

(Maybe we should make a thread purely for Diesel-chat?)

The DMS tuning is £999, but they are some ridiculous figures for a diesel, and they even claim that they can get more than the claimed BHP/Torque, but would prefer reliability to remain at 100%. Nice.

I think over the course of the next 2-3 years we will start to see a lot of Hybrid Forced-induction cars and Twin Turbo diesels, such as the Petrol Golf TSI and of course, BMW's x35d and 123d. I think Jaguar do a Twin Turbo diesel as well?

BMW claim a 207BHP from their new 4-cylinder Twin Turbo diesel, badged as the 123d, which no doubt they'll end up putting in the 323d and lardy 523d, as I still think that the current 177BHP model is too small and underpowered for such a big 5-series. They also claim a 54MPG figure from the Twin Turbo 4-pot. Nice!

Certainly if I had the money, I'd go for the coupe 335d at present, (or even an M5, if I really had no friends) because the looks are really quite something, and in a smaller car than the 5-series, who knows what sort of sideways action you'd end up in.

Did someone say the Audi A5 was a better car? Think it was Tiff Needel - What a four letter word he is :)
