How to get cheap insurance?

I'm guessing the Fiesta also has better brakes, uprated safety features etc...so you probably wouldn't wrap it round a tree, unless you were driving like a t**t...in which case you deserve insurance at £3k.

Simple ways of getting cheap insurance:

Be the named driver but put parents, siblings, friends etc as additinal drivers
Pass plus (not everyone considers this as a reason to decrease insurance)
Get an insurance group 1 car (http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/advice/car-insurance-groups/?ig=1)
Drive safely and build up your no claims

There are no tricks really, unless you lie to the insurance company which is never good if you need to claim!

I jut swapped from a 1.2 16V bravo to a 1.8 16V bravo and my insurance only went up by £140 for the year

Yeah that's what I mean...basically don't front. Cheap insurance can be had by just adding people as additional drivers to your own policy. Ok it's not AS cheap as the alternative but it is legal and you will benefit in the long run (providing you don't have an accident, of course.)

You want to have a look at Tesco car insurance, Its cheap and your not compromising on quality as they give you (Fully Comp) windscreen cover, courtesy Car, Satnav and Stereo Cover, Ect, ect. I was getting quoted £2500 - £4000 for small engine cars, My cover at the moment is fully comp for a 1.6 Fiat Stilo and Im paying £1800 . oh yeah and if you have your clubcard its even cheaper. :devil:

Sorry for the late reply, been pretty busy with uni work and work, work. yep, I passed my test when I was 21 in feb 2011, Hadnt driven for 7 months and then got this as my first car. various companies wanted almost double for a 1.2 clio . Really would suggest Tescos m8. 1st time driver, clean licence, NCB, No one named on my insurance and I wasnt named on anyone elses insurance. Dont know if it was just a fluke or what but managed to get decent insurance for what Im driving now

Tweak your job description. I have been told that as long as it's reasonably the same title as what you usually do, it's not fraud. For example, if you work in a petrol station, your premium is likely to go up as you may be driving late at night to and from work. Change your title to 'sales adviser', and your premium is likely do decrease by £100+.

Your job discription is as it shows on your contract so if it say petrol station attendant then you need insurance to state that or similar as an accupation, shop work for instance wouldn't be adequate if you employed as petrol station attendant, obviously If your contract says retail assistant though you'd be ok not putting petrol station down. You can tweak slightly, but still be careful id recommend.

oh, absolutely. I'm definately not condoning someone completely changing their job title to save a couple of quid. It's surprising how much a little (relevant) tweak does to the price, though.

lie basically , tell the truth and you will get royally screwed, not that I've lied on mine, but it does seem to be the only way to get the robbing gets to drop the price, cost me £2000 to insure my 58 Bravo 1.4 this year, hope to frig it goes down again next year otherwise its bye bye bella

might just be my opinion, but then im penalised by them for having a Liverpool postcode, if i moved to a Warrington postcode (about 2 miles down the road) my insurance drops by £800 a year....:bang:

Dont worry about postcodes, they are bringing in legislation that they cant base insurance on gender next year, and also they are looking to take postcode out of the question also. I just wonder how they will calculate instead. If I hear anything I will let people know!

Insurance companies ALWAYS change mine because my job simply doen't exist on any database, it usually substituted for something vaugly similar by the insurance sales people themselves

News to me, nothing mentioned my end. When did you hear about the postcode risk change? I can't see that happening myself as it is something people can choose, gender isn't (so to speak).

Get a cheaper car to insure then. Rather simple really.
