To get into the 35/6mm hub nut on an 06 1.9 jtdm, I'm sure it's a36 but because of the metal outer ring I can't get a thin enough walled socket on the nut.

Inside this metal ring looks as if it's got a slight bevelled/coned inside to it hence the socket won't go fully in to seat on the nut.

Has anyone any ideas as to what thin walled socket fits?

Ok, link doesn't work

Pasted it on Google and saw his posts that way and yes he grind it down, I thought about that but wary of it being thin enough to split especially putting an gun on it.

But that's what's needed as you obviously can't buy a thin enough walled 36mm.

What the hell were fiat thinking about making such a right bloody space for such a big nut. Wonder what you're of socket they have in the factory, I'd like to see..

A Laser Tools 6279 will do the trick. Under £15 from the usual suspects.

wish I knew that at the time, looking around at them now you can get them for around £13.

mine wasnt much cheaper

grinding mine down was my only option "on the day", and of course it did take the torque to undo, and tighten, without issue.

chances are it will be a socket that never gets used again, but hey ho
