hi
just a quick question. i saw this 1.6sx bravo 80K miles asking price £1499 with 3 months AUTO-PROTECT WARRANTY AVAILBLE. i was just wondering if that price was too much considering the mileage. i offered £1200 which i think is about right.
what do you guys think and how much you think its worth.

As long as its been treated well over those miles and has had its timing belt changed (and probably tensioner too) with servicings being done, then it could be good.
What year is the car anyway?

its 1997 P reg with the red key was well. wanted a 1.4 but after looking at post on here i changed my mind.

I got £1100 for my P reg 1.6sx brava (k57 miles) when I traded in. Not to bad I think I could of got more but if I sold private but the thermostat housing had a bad leak (pissed out water) a bottle of rad weld fixed it long enough to get it to the dealer. :D

Hope you're not buying johns car!!!

Get a copy of Glasses car price guide, and check what the dealer would have given as partex, if you can get near that price you'll be doing well... remember they guy your buying it off has to make a profit otherwise he aint selling you the car.

yeah i told him my offer for it is £1200 and he said too low he then said come and have a look anyway then you can make me an offer. But its been there a long time now and no one's buy that i told him because i been watching it for a while, so we will see what he says tomora.

ok went to have a look at the car today.i let one of my friend who used to buy and sell car for a living come and look at it.The engine sound ok, but the front bumper have a big split in it(estimate fix £100-200), it dont have a tax(£160.00 i think), there is no radio in it, just hanging wires and the rear wiper dont work, dont know how much it would cost to fix it. I told him i aint buying it for more than £1200.00. he said to give him £1300.00 i said no cause it aint got a tax, so i walked away.

saw a S reg 1.4 12v for £1300.00 ono. tempting..... :D

look like i am looking for a bravo in the wrong place ..... :D

Jay dont go with the 1.4 whatever you do! you'll get better econ from the 1.6. but dont go with that version, with its condition its only worth about £900 if parkers are to be a judge.
In Motherwell, ive just spotted on autotrader, for £1700 gets a T plate Bravo 1.2sx with 55k on it, its MOT'ed and taxed, even comes with the stereo.

thats a pic of the car too

Best thing to do is keep looking, the good deal is around

Scorg i live in Watford so its i bit far away. i saw that one as well. the thing is that i had a fiat punto 1.1sx and some fool woman crashed in the left side so hard that the left wheel broke off, engine on the floor. been a month now and still waiting on the insurance to sort all this thing out and to top it off my insurance wont extend my cover for the month i wasnt driving. so that means i am paying for something i am not using....

argh! :(
sorry to hear that, thats damn horrible.
I do know the feeling though, I was left without a car for about a month when the dealer wouldnt claim responcibility over a cambelt job on my old Rover

oh and plus that bravo i looked at today, i told him that it will need a cambelt changeing soon cause its done 80k. his reply was yes i know, you buy it then drive it until the cambelt goes and we come and fix it cause you have a warranty on it.... does he know anything about cars??? from my understanding once you drive it till that stage at it goes your engine has had it.

I also expect that the warrenty wouldn't pay for it! He was speaking bull****! He may also be breaking laws by selling a car that could be seen unfit for sale - i.e. the cambelt should have been changed ages ago and hasn't and as a garage, it therefore shouldn't be sold without it being done? Maybe I am completely wrong with that however. I expect it's against the warrenty company's terms at least!

Seems like you should stay well clear of it!

as far as I recall the standard timing belt change is 5 years or 72k miles on the brava.
as for that stealer, if they are happy to sell it at 80k with no timing belt change, then they arnt worth thier dealers licence and maybe its time to tip them off to smmt or the english equivelent
