The reason i ask is that i have just seen a Y reg 2001 1 owner from new marea weekend HLX with only 36k on the clock and FSH, and in Black too, this is like a timewarp car (bit like my 02 plated HLX till it blew up!!!) now i paid £1500 for my 02 plate HLX in 2008 and this y plater HLX is up for £1500 now i would pay that (i know not alot of peeps would) but if you could get hold of your ideal bravo/a or Marea what would you be willing to pay for say:

bravo hgt 150 y plate any colour with only 30k on teh clock and 1 owner?

bravo HLX 2002 any colour 25k 1 owner?

marea 20v hlx (weekend or saloon) 2001 y plate with 30k on the clock one owner?

i would be willing to go to £2500 for the right marea but it would have to be a 20v, would have to be a hlx, would have to be absoluetely immaculate everywhere, with fsh and cambelt change.

share your thoughts guys

cheers

My ideal motor would be the mark II Bravo HGT, Enamel Red, full black alfa leather, upholstered marea arm rest,18" after market alloys, full gas suspension, no more thank 30k on the clock.

If she wast to turn up i'd happily throw 3K at her.

Been there, Done that! LOL

Only reason I bought my old 2001 MY Marea back in Jan. 2007 was because it was in my personal dream spec.

A late model 150 Euro3 ELX saloon, (with the suspension and torque/economy improvements) in the best colour, (gorgeous metalic silk black) with climate, but no sunroof and also without leather or the weird-looking velour FIAT inflicted on the HLX versions.

Bonus in being a low-mileage, (about 32,000) 2-owner car with FFSH in almost perfect condition. Only downsides was a towbar, (was going to take it off for looks reasons, but did'nt bother and ended-up using it twice, lol) and a very slight ding in plastic rear bumper. Also it looked as though it had been standing on the forecourt a long while, but car gave no trouble when I started using it.

Best bit was it was on offer for less than £2K, when the book suggested it should retail for at least £2,800 at the time :)
To**er of a trader put a new M.o.T. on it, but then swapped the 2 rear tyres for less-good ones and I found a split wiper blade just after I picked it up.

However, no-one who saw it believed I payed less than £3K at for it and most guessed I'd coughed-up over £4K and it proved to be a very good car in the 34 months and 24,000-odd miles I owned it :)

i dont think they are worth anything near the £1500 for y reg or newer. according to parkers guide a 2002 20v hlx weekend with average miles of 80000 is worth top end £680 with mileage adjusted you'll probably be looking around the £800-£850 top wack.

my 1.6 sx weekend is only worth according to the guide £550 top wack standard so they are not worth alot

its mainly because the emissions are so high on them that people avoid them hence they sell really cheap

but it also goes on what people are willing to pay for it

I would pay a lot for my dream Bravo but it would have to be exactly what I want. A perfect Mk1 HGT, without a sunroof!, Full Leather, very low milage. Then I would happily chuck tens of thousands of pounds at a complete strid down and refurbish/uprate. Finished in Ink-Black or Heraldic Blue.

Then I would have a second project Bravo HGT, No sunroof again! Eventually finnished to the same standard as the first but the project side of it would be somekind of big engine 4WD combo.

Only one problem, I have not won the lottery yet! :p

@ carroll, yep i have been there, i went to blackpool for my 02 plated HLX 41k mint as and thats a long way to go when you live in essex!!! and i would still have it now if it didn't go pop!

now if a mk1 marea weekend in ink black, heraldic blue, white or my darke met red, and it was immaculate and i mean immaculate, with all keys full history and 1 owner from new, never pranged, original bill of sale, and sunroof (no aircon) and 2 cambelt changes at least from new then i would be willing to pay over 2k for it, i don't care what parkers say i would never sell it so it would overtime appreciate!

now i know they don't sell for much and that is the main reason that alot of them are in a bad way as no one will take care of them.

But i am still tempted by this black one, and the red one would stay too! but the black one would get new suspension all round, coupe wheels, and uprated discs, aswell as a full stainless system, then i would waxoil to death and get the underside done by that firm (they charge about £700 to get rid of all the crap underneath and put new stuff on)

and as i dont use it that often the miles would stay low, and the red car will get tidied up too

nice to see peeps still would pay good money for there ideal!

i bought my fiat bravo 1.8 hlx (sassi grey mk 1), on an S reg, FSH and all old mots and docs for £1350. 3 previous owners and the seller was a friend of mine and an alfa mechanic.

If i went back in time and would have known what the car was like i would have given £2k for it!

4 years later and now on 90k! and its still perfect, and haven't had hardly anything go wrong with it! apart from a dirty MAF and the clutch. and i snapped a few throttle cables lol. loads of people ask about it, and can't belive its 13 years old!!!

my 1.8 hlx is a R plate and im hoping it follows the same path as yours! 500 quid buy not missed a beat yet!

i paid £1400 for mine back in 2008.fully motd and taxed. However my sisters b/f bought it for £2k 2 years before, just after the car got made.

unsure what id pay for it now tbh,its had a new recon engine in it and is now a complete one off car with everything working inside and fully serviced.
Paint job aint the best now but a quick 'once over' will tidy it back up to how it was :)
