Hi

I was just wondering how many Idea owners on this forum have bought an exhaust for their car.

I think mine has nearly given up the ghost! :(

I reckon I will need an exhaust from the cat back.

I've found a stainless steel one (cat back) on the net for £249 but probably will go for a cheapie mild steel one instead.

Any idea (no pun intended :D) of prices would be much appreciated (y)

Cheers

Not sure but isn't it the same as the MKII Punto? Shouldn't be too bad.

That's what I thought too. Had an entertaining lunchtime phoning up exhaust outlets to find out prices. Went something like:

Me: Hello, I was wondering if you could give me a price for an exhaust?
Exhaust Outlet: For what make and model.
Me: It's a 2004 Fiat Idea 1.4 Petrol.
Exhaust Outlet: A Fiat...
Me: Idea.
Exhaust Outlet: Idea?
Me: Yes, that's right.

All were surprised at the name :). One more continued...

Exhaust Outlet: Does it come under the name just Idea?
Me: Yes.
Exhaust Outlet: I can't find that on our system.
Me: It's based on a Fiat Punto, so probably uses the same exhaust.
Exhaust Outlet: OK, I'll check. We've got three exhausts for a 2004 Punto. Probably best if you just bring it in. :D

In fairness I did manage to find one place who could find me a cat back exhaust - £194 fitted. Seems expensive.

Cheers

When my wifes mk 2 punto back box went, from the dealers you had to have it from the cat back if i remember right,so i popped down ces in stoke and £25 later i had a back box!,you just cut the pipe and the new back box fits over the pipe!! if the Idea's the same you should get one cheap, just lying on ur back cutting the pipe in the right place.....and it raining wasnt fun at all.

hope this helps

Thanks Richie.

Having had the car checked out, seems the exhaust is fine (but rusty) and I have a hairline crack in my manifold. Ooh 'eck
