General How much for the 100hp service

General How much for the 100hp service

Just as a reference, the 24000 mile service on my 4x4 was £300! Of which only around £35 was oil and filter. Palmers Fiat, Watford, charge an unbelievable £105 per hour for labour! (24k includes valve clearance adjustment on 1.2)

Its also interesting to note that the service 'charge times' are higher for each engine in the 500, even though so far as I know, they are the same as the Panda's.

S-X-I's breakdown was interesting: Shell Helix oil, just £10, rather than Selenia - I gather that more Fiat dealers now use Shell oils, because of a racing sponsorship connection.

My other half had hers done at the weekend, £100 from TJ Vickers in Shrewsbury.

Thats a good point about the A/C & pollen filter, she didn't mention if they'd done that.

It's also interesting that 10W40 semi-synth is used as I've read that the 1.4-16v engines run much better on 5W40 fully synth (as specified on eLearn). Talk about a minefield :ROFLMAO:

Got my 12,000 mile service this morning and it came to £91 inc Vat, which wasn't bad it was meant to be £135 but I found a 25% discount in the local paper the other day. It seems that I got more than the 25% off as it should have been just over £100. So I'm not complaining.

just had my 1st service at 9000 miles.. £141.00. oil used was texaco semi synthetic, pollen filter replaced. washed and hoovered, no complaints apart from the midget who drove it and changed my seat settings.... :p

Just got quoted £186.00 inc VAT for my first service (100HP)

from Mangoletsi (Wilmslow)

Might be worth asking them how the breakdown for that works out - if they're using Selenia oil, you may be able to supply your own equivalent stuff and bring the price down that way?

Mine was around £150 and they used Selenia Fully Synth....

Hello all, my 12 month service on my 100hp is now due, although she has only done about 5000 miles. Im reluctant to pay dealer prices for what is in effect an oil/filter change and a checkover. Does anyone know of a good dealer/independant garage in the north west london area. I seem to remember someone mentioning a "small service" for lower mileages?
Have not been particulary impressed with Palmers in Watford. Thanks

Short answer: No. Each major European Car maker has a 'sponsorship deal' with an oil maker: Fiat=Selenia, Citroen=Total, Renault=Elf, etc and each 'recommends' that company's product.
Selenia is a brand of Fiat Lubricants. Hence the tie-up.

It also says 'synthetic based', which all modern oils are.
Not so - you can get modern mineral oils just as you can semi-synth and fully synth.

Ben

Mine was:

Labour £78
5 litre Selenia Oil £29.50
Oil Filter £8.78
Air Filter £13.56
Other minor bits £4.70

VAT £23.54

Total £158.08
I hope you didn't get billed for five litres - a 100HP only take 2.9!

True - I was trying to be concise.

Mineral oils tend to have higher viscosities (typically 20w50), and are generally less 'obviously' on sale these days, tucked away at the back. Also, they tend to be clearly labelled as suiting older cars, 'cars over 10 years old' or similar.

Most (all?) 10w40 oils readily found on sale now are 'synthetic based' or semi-synthetic (same thing) and as such are suitable for the Panda. If you're adept enough to want to change you're own, your probably clued up enough to read the specs to be sure.

You can get a 'Low mileage annual service', if under 7000 miles, includes Oil change and all filters. Its shows what they do in your service book, page 41 in mine.

Paying £138 for my first service on the 100HP, including Selenia 20K, no where near London though, sorry.

Just got the letter through the post this morning reminding me my 1st service is due in December (can't believe its a year!) and it will cost me all in £125.95p inc VAT at Piccadilly in Wakefield.

Oh and they will be using Castrol Pro 5w-40 fully synthetic oil according to the letter.

Free valet and courtesy car too.

Going to my local garage. The mrs just got her Mazda MX-5 serviced there (1st server) for £65. Instead of £180 from Mazda (y)

Roughly £60-70 to service my panda there.
