General How long have you had your Barchetta?

I am sure you have a few tales to tell in a couple of years ownership - get posting!!! ;)

A few!!!

I first bought it as a summer car but after two winters of it being locked away I cant bear it any longer and I've decided to use it all year round this year!

Despite being a summer car I've done plenty of miles, the longest trip so far was 3000 miles round europe taking in Paris, Monte Carlo, Florence, Venice, Vienna, Prague and Berlin... all in 2 weeks!

I love the B, its one of the most fun cars I've ever owned (including some weird stuff like a DeLorean!). So what if it's not the most sensible type of car to pound British motorways in winter.

So far its pretty standard though it has an upgraded Sony stereo with infinity speakers. It's also got aircon which is more useful than it sounds and now HID lights. Oh, and the sexy third brake light...

I had a collision with a pigeon on a trip to Aberdeen at over 100 mph resulting in £1200 of damage to the front. The upside was that the insurance paid for a new front bumper complete with spoiler.

On the wish-list is leather seats and maybe a hardtop.

:)

 How big was the pigeon? You sure it was not a deer? I hit one of them at 80-ish in a 3 month old Audi A4 about 4 years ago and caused 2.5k of damage!

DeLorean, now that MUST have a story attached!!

I've had my b since July 99. It has been a great car.

There have been no real problems apart from the rusty bolts, a snapped original exhaust and a failed engine sensor. I used it as an everyday car until 2006 and regularly drove it the length of the country whilst working in London. It has done about 56000 miles now. I have recently bought a house with a garage so it will have somewhere better to live :)

It is pretty much stock apart from koni shocks and a powerflow oval exhaust.

Hi im new to the forum had my blue barchetta for 3 months now may have met a few of you at auto italia meet in leicestershire end of summer

dont no about london to brighton maybe closer to the time, family commitments and all that,a 2 seater is not that practical for family and big dog !, will try to get to brooklands itailia day if is on next year.based in norwich so most places are a treck

Bought September 2005 after hankering over one since they first came out :D

She was just a year old when I got her, but the original owner had only done about 1200 miles so not even run in (y)

Just coming up on 40k miles, used daily, been on several roadtrips around Europe and has been entirely dependable... apart from:

1. Oil filter ruptured on the M6 at 22k - apparently wasn't changed on 12k service :bang:

2. "The suspension knock at low speeds" problem - never really gone away despite new bushes and lots of re-torquing. Gotten used to it now.

3. Variator changed at 30k due to hunting on idle - fixed under warranty

4. Dodgy seatbelt tensioner detection circuit - fixed under warranty

5. The rather strange cracking rear numberplate light lens problem.

All in all pretty good for a 3.5 year old Fiat! :worship:

July 2007

I'm new to the forum. I had wanted a Barchetta since the mid 90s but couldn't afford it. I have had a lot of Fiats and owned a Stilo in July. I had my eye on my actual B for just over a year as it was parked outside an Italian specialist garage across from where I work. I eventually cracked and went over for negotiations and after phoning my girlfriend who was on holiday in Italy I simply made a clean swap for my Stilo.

I absolutely love the car and don't know why I didn't have one sooner. So far I have had a new roof fitted and chrome emblem badge to the boot plus installed a new Sony stereo. I would love to be able to do more but I am hopeless at working on the B so far. Maybe an engine strut brace would be good?

Anyone considering getting one, go for it. My B causes a stir wherever it goes.

Good to see you on the Forum but 'what kept you?' ;)

Go for the strut brace, easy to fit and makes a difference in the corners!

I have just picked up a contract a couple of days a week, one of the client sites is in Torquay so I will need to pay it a visit in the next month - I will look you up for a coffee on the way past if you fancy?!? (y)

Um...nothing  I gave her some warm water to peel off the car cover with, though (really terrible weather today - high humidity and cold weather; everything was frozen solid and it was nigh on impossible to even walk out to the B because of all the ice)

Hi,
I have my 98 silver B from 20 Oct 2007, So I think I'm the "youngest" :)
I'm waiting for spring to try it with the roof down.
Untill then I keep putting money on spare parts and service and gas, actually my B likes to eat a lot of gas. Thinking it coul be the lambda sonde. I'll chk it soon.
Chk my Thread from 4 Dec. !!! Barchetta !!! Good Or Evill - Troubles and EUR'os, but Nice Car
Any advice is appreciated.
Nice comunity on this Forum. Keep up the good work. And the B (Boat) spirit. :D

Ciao!
