Technical How does this fit?

How does this fit together? is is supposed to be just a O Ring or does it supposed to be a clip? My Turbo was loose and there wasnt one on when i took it off.

Hi, wouldnt of thought there would be a rubber o ring because of the exhuast temperatures.. it would raidly deteriate.. but there must be a clip of some sort to hold the 2 halves together, otherwise they could come apart resulting in the leakage of exhuast gases, and the turbo to consequencially stop working

Thats my problem there is no clip, thats why i took it off, is it an internal circlip or something else?

definitely a clip i think.. looking at the pics id guess its an external clip that goes over the slip lip on each half where the join is, as they look the same.
