Technical how do you tell

ok just been out in the cinq sporting for a quick flit to the shops and its the first time i have opened the taps on it since i got it on sat and was wondering how do you tell the diff between a 1.1 and a 1.2 motor as its got alot more lift off the mark than my old 55s punto which yes i know is a heavier car but this is a big diff

look at the water pump, if its a 1242 then there will be 10mm of block above the pump

The cinq really is considerably lighter than a Punto.

Service history may be different too.

i hear that rallycinq but my last punto i totally stripped the engine and rebuilt it and it was a different animal after but nothing compared to this cinq obviously its still no rocket ship but its defo quicker than my punto by more than the weight diff but it could just be me i havn't driven a car for 8 months and my last motor was a 300bhp volvo lol

I think the Punto would have been on larger diameter tyres too.

punto was 195-45r 15
cinq is 165-55r 14

so dont know how different they are but i would guess your right

The engine code location will be the same as your punto (jus tabove water pump ? )

Sand it down and you'll find out .

also says 1.2 on the back of the block at the bottom, not easy to get to but its would ne there in big embossed numbers.
