I was doing a service on our cinq the other day and so i went out to get all the bits i'd need and it seems that everyone i spoke to pronounced it differently... personally i pronounce it "sinki-chento" but i heard it called "chink-wi-chento", "sink-wi-sento" and alsorts, so exactly how is it pronounced? the
gf has just settled on calling it a "sh!tty-shento" for now :D

and seicento... is that "say-chento", "si-chento" or what

iirc from listening to Italians say them it's
cin-que*-chento
se*-chento

*rising inflection on the e (forum doesn't let me put the chars in :()

Italian is a sensible language where everything is pronounced as it is written. But in Italian "ch" is hard c, "c" is soft c, and all the vowels are as someone from the North or W.Midlands would say them.

So, Say-chento in English for Seicento

Chin-kwey-chento in English for Cinquecento

Or you could say 600 and 500 to confuse everyone.

My Czech friend says "ChinkyChento" as in "He drive like maniac and overtake me in Turbo ChinkyChento!" ;)

i pronounce it as "piece of junk that hasn't move since november and costs me lots of money"

actually, no. i'm sorry Chii - didnt mean that.

chinky-chen-toe.
