Hi all,

Silly question perhaps but I've searched the forums and found nothing.

Does anyone know how to lock the doors on the Stilo so only the driver can re-open them. At the moment my doors lock but anyone from inside can open the doors. I was on the m-way last week and my 18 month old baby decided to reach over and managed to open the door on the driver side from his car seat. Likewise passengers in the back can also open the doors despite me locking them. Surely the solution can't be to have child locks on all the doors ?

Thanks in advance.

OK followed the instructions on page 80 but this locks the doors from the inside even if I unlock the doors from the driver side control panel. This is OK for a long journey but not ideal on the school run because I would have to get out of the car to open the doors. Is there anyway I can lock/unlock the doors from the inside like a 'standard' car so the kids can't open the doors using the inside handles themselves ?

Sorry if this is a stupid question and I'm beginning to think that this is the norm for my car which seems odd !

Thanks again.
Adam

For carrying young children in the rear the Stilo's rear doors can be disabled (as they can on pretty much all 5 door cars). Notice also that the rear windows prevent children from climbing out. This means you must open the doors yourself to let the children out which I would have thought would be normal for most parents to do.

The Stilo has other features which may be useful but note that non of them will stop anyone from exiting from the rear (assuming locks are left active)

  • From the driver door, you can lock/unlock all doors as standard.
  • An option within 'My Car' menu can request the Stilo to automatically lock ALL doors over approx 20mph
  • Another option allows ONLY the driver's door to be unlocked with the key fob

Thanks for that Argonought.

Guess I will have to give up on this one. I simply wanted to be able to lock/unlock the doors from the driver side without the kids simply being able to open them by just pulling the inside handle. On other cars I have had the pins on the doors can be pushed down and up to lock/unlock but this is not the case in the Stilo.

But that's what you use the key for. There are no pins on the doors, but white plastic "females" which you insert the ignition key into (where you'd normally find the pins) and turn it over. This is a rear door feature only.
