All much of a muchness, go for the best facilities you can afford with whatever type. Depends what your looking for, total defence or simple intruder detection. There is a large array of sonic breakglass detectors, I.R. passive detection, dual technology (kind of radar and I.R. detection) old fashioned pressure mats, door magnets.... list goes on.
Either way, after install the ongoing maintenance / servicing costs are the biggest factor for an alar installed by a NACOS company. Be sure you have full anti-tamper circuits in the bell boxes and auxilliary stuff too.

Yeah I would kinda believe that after seeing my Ex's Black lab that would be all nasty and viscous but once you chuck food at its you best mate and starts licking your face.
wireless alarms are fine, if they werent then insurance companies would not treat them in the same way as wired alarms. the respose solar powered one is best imo. if you're on a budegt get the yale wireless kit off ebay, then buy extra bits to build the system you need. the yale alarms go very cheap on ebay.

the solar siren will be able to run for months with no light, the battery is the samne size as a normla siren battery, it simply charges whenever it can so in most conditions it will not need replacing for 5 years.
instructions say you should fit it on the south facing wall to ensure more light.

Correct Jug, but unfortunately my only South facing wall is facing my neighbours house 5 feet away and the strobe would have been invisible, so it went as near South facing as dammit on the front wall, trouble is we have a Power Station not far away and it throws black crap out into the atmosphere.

Lmao... no not really... Google Earth it its really quite a lovely place! Ironbridge Gorge right nr the River Severn in Shropshire.
Problem is its a new housing estate, its private houses but built far too close together as is the way these days.

Damn right, we have a path each between each house, 1 slab width maybe 2 foot plus gravel edges of 6 inches either side of the slab... 3 feet - ish!
No windows on the upstairs at the sides tho, just 1 on the ground floor in the laundry, so no need for ladders etc and thankfully no wood to paint or no uPVC needed there either.
Bless the developers for being so thoughtful!!
Mind you, its a 4 bed detached with garage, laundry and the back garden lengths are good at 60 feet, all for £60k 10 years ago so I though "what the hell"!

I have to say it is quite big (garden is only avarage) and the area is very very good, but still 155K!!!
I've put a new kitchen and bathroom + decorated almost every room. Not touched the back garden yet. I'd love to know how much its worth?
Back on topic - I looked at security when I moved in and thought Naaaa... People don't even lock their back doors here!
Unless you get a big insurance discount why bother with security when your windows are made with glass!?

Wireless alarms aren't too bad but like everyone say's above power is a bit of a problem, im my experience it's common to hard wire the Bell box only (normally 12v) and just use wireless detectors throughout your house / garage, All Scantronic's or Honeywell gear is good quality, and relatively easy to install. if you have a look at adi-gardiner.com they sell 99% of intruder alarm stuff to trade so are as good'er place as any to look !!

Our last house had a fully monitored ADT system, with panic buttons and carbon monoxide detectors :spin:
