I have got a hole in my sump but it has been caused by sumthing comin thru it from inside the enginge rather than something hitting the outside of it and forcing it in. Just wondered if any1 knew how much it wud cost to fix this and if he engin will be damaged as well because of this. I was driving down the motorway when i heard a thud and lost all power to my car, then smoke started coming from the underneath of my car and from my gear stick as well. Is it worth sticking with my punto or getting rid, i paid £1100 for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated

V reg fiat punto 1.2

Summet has come through the sump because where the hole is, the metal is facing away from the engine. The recovery bloke said that summet has forced itself through the sump.

No, hasnt got any oil left in it.

As there is no oil left and you have nothing to lose. Remove the sump and have a look at bottom end. Normally it a con rod that comes through the sump and youll notice that. If everything looks ok then put a socket on crank pully and try turning the engine over. If it hasnt siezed then might be worth trying a sump from scrappy. shouldnt take no more than an hour to check.
