you could sell it when its born :)
lol

option 1 sounds like it could work, i assume you will be able to claim expenses etc. 150 mile a day round trip, no thanks, unless i was on mega money!

8 hour day plus 4 hour drive, (n)

I think option 1 sounds ok, and you could be job hunting when you are home as I would assume that you would be doing training mon-fri?

Also if the company keep you on for the extra 6 month surely thats giving you the 5 extra days to mean you entitled to redundancy??

Wot ever you do though i hope it works out

Be careful about deciding. Whilst it may be tempting to travel the country & have fuel expenses paid, you may be expected to travel down to Cornwall on Monday, be there for 9, finish at 5 then be expected to travel to Glasgow on Tuesday, again, 9 - 5... OK, them's extremes, but it could happen. Also, bear in mind all those extra miles you're putting on your car - will impact on your insurance and affect resale value (mileage allowances rarely reflect true running costs).
Will you be expected to travel hundreds of miles between branches? and what about timescale? remember speed limits etc. the higher the mileage, the higher the chances of being pulled if you are speeding.
As with option 2, if they provide the car etc, then all well and good but will you be fit for work after driving 75miles in heavy traffic?
And what are you going to be like after driving home? (this also effectively increases your working day.)

Just remembered, we had some people in a few months back, giving additional training to all our drivers. They'd travelled from Wales that morning, stayed overnight in local B&B, worked the next few days with us, staying in B&B then up to Manchester for a couple of days, Wales for the Weekend then up to tour Scotland the following week.
I thought they should have retired years ago, turned out they were in their early 40s.

well I have been doing some more digging on both jobs and i am really uncertain. I have written off the training because i thinking about it.....

I would be suprised if there is going to be enough work to last six months. When I did my training it took me two works to get the basics of the job to work on daily tasks. There are 10 branches that are staying open and there are two other trainers that i know of. So on those stats I think they will be binning the trainers before the six months is out.

Working at manchester. I have sent a few questions to the manager and i am waiting to hear back. H isnt keen on me doing it and would prefer us just to live off his wage until i find something else

He feels a 12 hour day minimum would end up causing me to go mental.

I have done some enquiries with the woman who wanted me for the training job and asked her about some things to do with the manchester branch. A few essential jobs are being taken away from the branches and will be done at head office. I have said to her it sounds like the work at the branches are being reduced until it reaches the point where there would be no need for the branches anymore and i thought it was in the very near future.... She didnt respond to this so sounds like I am right and this has put me off big time

Gill83 - No i wont be entitled to redundancy becuase its calculated to the end of consulation. If it was calculated including notice period then i would be entitled to it. Its my current position thats being made redundant, so if i work in the company else where it has nothing to do with any redundancy payout.

The purpose of the consultation is to try to find ways to avoid or mitigate the effects of the redundancy. If they offer you an alternative position then they should agree to continuity of service.

If they insist that your old contract of employment has finished and the new role is a new employment, then I would check with a solicitor (free 1/2 hour consultation ?) to see if you can challenge this.

If they still insist on it being a new contract of employment, with no continuity from the old one, then don't feel any guilt when you find another job and tell them where to stick their training job.

I havent posted on here for a few days as things have been up in the air

Well i am now officially unemployed (n)

Althougn H decided against me doing the job from manchester, I gave the manager a few questions to answer before I gave an answer, but then it turned out he disapeared from the face of the earth for the week leading up to my branch closing and the staff at manchester were under the impression I was definately going to them tuesday (today)

The 6 month job, I was being harrassed again a few times a day last week to do the job so i finally agreed to do it and to cut a long story short the woman that had been mithering me phoned me and said she wasnt allowed me

She is working desperately to get me on board but i am not counting my chickens. I dont quite understand whats gone on but they have less than half the staff they need for this job, so thats why this woman is going mad about it all.

so there you have it LOL - the company is a frigging joke!
