Have a fiat punto easy 2012. Dash sometimes reads the fault ‘have power steering checked, see handbook’ Anyone have an idea on what this might be? Was recommended to check the battery, have done so and it’s fine. When driving it disappears and steering feels fine (no loss of power steering)

Yes its likely its a power supply thing..

There is probably a fault code stored in the BODY COMPUTER

But unless you see any real symptoms..I wouldnt worry.

Does the car get reasonable runs ?
( stop: start working..?)

If stop: start works battery itself is fine

Yes, stop start works fine and we tested the battery and it’s healthy.

I have a 2012 too..
still on its 2012 battery.. no problems in 9 years

So I get in my car, start the engine as normal. Sometimes I will turn start/stop off, I only use city steering when parking or going through town

When you put the key in the ignition:

Do you watch the dashboard lights go on..then off ?

Or just key in and start the engine turning..??

i usually turn the key once, then turn it again to start the engine?

I have found when I drive off as well the warning goes

Its probably fine

As I said.. there is probably a stored fault code for what it 'sees' as the problem


Drops in electrical power are favourite
