Technical help!!!!!!!!!!!

Right i wonder if anyone can help i have a problem with my cinquecento 1994 899 cc
when i start her up the injection system malfuntion light on the instrument panel lights up flicks of for a second then stays on the engine then struggles for about a minute and then stalls (yes i am in neutral) if i rev the engine then shes ok for a bit and shes ok in gears 2 -5 but 1 and neutral it feels likes shes really struggling to not stall i've replaced the sensors the valves the spark plugs cleaned the long plug things injector things any ideas? pease help

Id say its probably ECU related...sometimes stuff like the Lambda and MAP sensor wont actually show up as part of the efi malfunction light.

Might be worth an ECU scan, but theres a high probability (my guess anyhoo) its the lambda sensor- a good garage should be able to test it and tell yu!!

if you take it to fiat they'll be able to hook it up to the computer and bring up the problem for ya cost you about £30ish i think

Just read your first post again and i had a prob like this with mine, exceptit was worse!

It was solved to my relief just by pushing the wire that goes from mid way in the engine bay to the ecu. I reckon it is worth a try cheking that this wire is pushed in properly

right it looks like a trip to my nearest fiat garage for my ikle baby i'll check that wire before i go tho

apart from this my babe seemed to be going well do they have many problems? i'm a new owner had it about 3 months.

I know it's not a sporting but i'm really looking to do it up i was looking to get colour coded bumpers what else apart from alloys do you think i could do to it if i decide it's worth keeping coz i love how little petrol it drinks if i can get this problem fixed and it stays good for a few more months i might look at turning this baby into a bit of a beast lol... xxxx

Hi Becky, welcome to the forum.

Have you tried new air and fuel filters?
As said above, any fault codes which get stored when the light comes on can be read by either Fiat (check price first) or by many mobile mechanics (which could work out cheaper). I paid £25 for a blokey to plug his machine into mine and tell me what was up.

Could be the same problem ive had recently, Get your ECU read, A FIAT DEALERSHIP did mine for £21, Mine was doing the same, i thought it was a sensor but could well be the pressure sensor/switch

At last i found the problem after changing all valves and all sensors on the head gasket, i took it to a fiat garage (which i should have done first) and found it was the pressure sensor under the metal plate, next to the ecu. well the garage wanted near £100 to fix it but being so near christmas and short on cash went down the scap yard. £10 later and 1 bolt and 2 plugs touched to remove it and place new one in. it is now totaly fine no stalling and no injector light on yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
now i can start moding and styling ok ...... now what should i do first i'm getting alloys for christmas..... she has a white exterior and at the moment red and green inside so any ideas??? and thing anyone wanna sell me? got a cool sound system already and that has blue and red light display....
