General HELP remote central locking has just stopped working

Hi folks, I own a 1997 Punto sporting.

The remote locking has always worked until the other day! Press the button and the car doesnt respond. The light on the key just flashes slowly. I've replaced the batteries. The central locking functions ok, if i use the key in the lock.

Any ideas please???

Could be the the remote locking reciever unit is knackered, receiver is in the boot on the drivers side (next to speaker) its a small black box with a green LED, also the relay maybe poppd it, they regulary need attention, take it out (yellow one on right side of glovebox fusebox) and give it a rattle, if you hear something inside loose and flicking about then its knackered, you can solder it up yourself or buy a new one with new keys, or maybe the keys needing recoded?
