i no this hasnt much to do it cinqs but i no you guys are really imformative on problems and can help alot.basically my mate has a 1.4 corsa,and its over heating,and feels a bit chuggy when he's driving.a garge he took it to said that the head gasket has gone and quoted him £600. however it was a small back street garge and we rnt sure if its correct or they just scamming him because he is young and dont no much bout cars.could it be the thermostat?

If it's lacking in power get it compression tested, that will tell you if HG has failed. £600 is very steep though.

yeh i aggree with skins, £600 is double the price you should pay

600£? I got my HG swapped with some heads mods and other bits n' pieces done for 400£!

like what has been said have a compression test done, £600 is waaaaay too much for a HG.

or buy your own compression tester for a little over a tenner get to use it again and again then
