Technical Help please gearbox

Hi!

I am new to the forum and I’m so sorry for my lack of knowledge, I recently passed my test and my Fiat Punto Jet Black II car has broken down. My gear linkage? has broken and I paid £200.00 to a mobile mechanic to buy the part to them start (where i’d then pay labor) but he’s done me over and did a runner.

Now the garages locally are saying they won’t be able to fix it!? Can anyone please please tell me what this is so I can look at buying parts somewhere? I can’t get to work at the moment, any help would be great

I think it is called Gearshift actuator (wire).
