hi im new to the forum and i am just finding my way around so excuse the amateurness...

i have a 1998 bravo and was wondering what are the biggest wheels i can put on it.
the car is completely standard so is in need of some tarting up and i am unsure what size wheels to go for.

also would wheels with pcd 4x100 fit as i know the bravo is 4x98?

thanks in advance

 maybe one day i will have a car worthy to show in this forum

Hi,
It's possible to fit 4X98 in 4X100 or vice virsa.
The maximum i think it's 185/50/R15 but don't know for sure.

Fiats have a pcd of 98 which is rare.
where as Renault/vauxhall/ some rover/some VW/ some mazda etc etc.. are the more common 100pcd
These wheels can be made to fit the Fiats but the bolt holes are a couple of mm too close together on the hub in comparison to the bolt holes on the alloy. So when the bolts are put in it puts strain on them, this is very very dangerous as it could lead to the bolts sheering!!!!
The solution for this is to fit whats called wobbly bolts. They have play in them as they use a collar which fits snugly into the alloy the bolt can then move slightly inside the collar to locate to the slightly out of line bolt holes on the Fiat hubs.

Also with alloys check the Offset which should be around 35 or 37
and check the spigot size which is the centre bore which sits on the hub.

17" with 205/40/17 tyres will fit but will reduce performance particularly on the lower powered models.

hope this helps.

if confused then the bottom of this article might help

I meant by 185/50/R15 the legal one :bang:

No, 185/55 x 15 was the largest fitted as standard (even for 155 BHP HGTs).

You could go easily up to 195/50 x 15 on Fiat / Alfa 15" rims.

It's pretty silly to go above 16", plenty of Fiat alloys available in this size.

The question was
"i have a 1998 bravo and was wondering what are the biggest wheels i can put on it.

Fiat fitted a 15" alloys but a 17" with a 40profile would fit.

I agree, 15 or 16 are the best compromise between looks and handling etc.:)

18"x7 wheels fit, you will probably rub the plastic front arch liners on full lock though. Tyres are typically 215/35/18

Make sure you fit alloys that are either 4x98 or 4x100 (need wobbly bolts for 4x100). Centre Bore must be 58.1 any bigger and you will need spiggot rings.

ET can vary but stay within 35 - 40.

18's on a Bravo JTD.

ive got 17inch stilo abarth on mine no rubbin what so ever, even on full lock and the size is 205/40/17, slammed 40mm looks tidy i rekon, fills the arches just right

keep posted as they might be for sale if i decide to break the car

cheers people for sharing your wisdom thinkin maybe to go for 17's as it really does need tarting up!
