Technical HELP;grinding sound

i have recently noticed a grinding sound coming from the front end of my car.
it goes away when you push down the clutch pedal.i can here it faintly when moving but worse when standing still.i only noticed after i bought a new gear stick knob and my dad went straight in riving and forcing to get the old one off. could he have damaged something i think so, but he keeps telling me that the gear stick has nothing to do with the sound.its funny how the sound started then.

sounds like a thust bearing to me time for a new clutch what year is your car and mileage

its 55 sx 1.1. 96 N reg.its done 51k

with the milage i would say the clutch is on the way out i would get it checked out
also get the gear box oil renewed
