I went to see a Stilo this weekend, turned up, and spoke to the guy who had the "exellent" conditioned Stilo... had a look, it was a complete nail, there were about 20 things wrong with it, i knew about the head gasket being broken, and a "small crack" in the front bumper, but anyways i was not happy that day and am still annoyed now.

It was a 1.6 3dr 2002 Stilo, I was wondering if anyone could help me find a stilo it can be 2002 - 2005, preferably 2002 or 2003 because of the badge on the back isn't on those models, it can be either active or dynamic, i live in stafford and do need it pretty local, i have been looking everyday second of the day...literally!

If anyone could help that would be great, my budget is around £1200, i can push to £1300, it's the problem of the budget which is making this search hard, oh and if anyone finds any that can be knocked down on the price feel free to post those too,

Thanks

I was recently on autotrader and the most common Stilo's for sale are 1.2 models, the bulk of which were advertised from £1200! :) Might be worth considering!

Couple of JTD's with high-ish milage (although not really an issue for a diesel) going for £999 from traders! Who says Diesels hold their value better than petrols huh!

that budget is optimistic m8, because i was scooting round the internet for an abarth a few weeks ago, and came across the same model, engine size and mileage as my 02 reg 1.6 dynamic, and that was going for £3500, and that was a dealership. think you'll struggle to get a 3dr 1.6 for that price, unless there's a LOT of mileage on it. as stiloboy said you might have to get a 1.2 or a diesel.

how much did he want for that with the head gasket gone as you mentioned??

I think I spotted the car he's talking about, sure its on Autotrader now or ebay, asking £995!

Spent £1200 and get a 1.2 you won't regret it. Or take a punt with one of the £999 JTDs and get an RAC inspection first with the money your going to safe and then spend the rest of your £1200 budget getting the car serviced!

If you live in Staffs then here you go http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2004-FIAT-STI...s_UK?hash=item3355c110c5&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 :yum::yum::yum:I like that a lot but Mrs says I can't have 2 stilos:(:( it's only up the road from you really but your budget for a good 1.6 I'd say forget it(n)(n)............I wouldn't sell you my lickle 1.2 for that no sir

Just put another £1600 and that can be your stilo go on you know you want to but seriously if you stick to that budget go for 1.2 should be easy to get an active for that money on autotrader:D

I'm guessing they'll be too dear for him. My gut feeling is he wants a cheapy so he can "mod" it!

Its a shame, but thats where the Stilo is now, every little fanny wants one to modify. I saw it with the Saxo too, I had a VTS in 1997 when they'd just hit the market, everyone thought it was a great car! Tell folk now I had a Saxo VTS and they laugh, because all you ever see is beat up shopping trolleys or modded to destruction VTR's with blown head gaskets still trying to "race"

Not that i'm saying this guy is a wee fanny, hell he might buy a Stilo, mod it and it to be one of the best in the country. I wouldn't know I've never modded a car, other than the wheels on my Stilo.

I agree they are quite cheap.... never seen a car on piston heads that was a true steal though, mainly because its all folk whom think they know cars so they put what they feel is a more realistic value on their old tin. And chances are some of them might even be decent condition motors, especially the un-modded ones.

£1200 for a Stilo is only realistic if you get a 1.2 high miler, or JTD interstellar miler! And in fairness you'll need to spend a couple of hundred quid on servicing items I don't doubt, brakes, tyres, timing belt to name but a few that will definately be needing done.

Last year Mrs Ffoxy was offered just £1,600 P/X against a new Nissan Micra.

Its a red one owner, 1.2 03 plate Aircon Active, all things work fine with Service history and all receipts, 42,000 miles.

We told them to keep their new Micra....

Now we had the timing belt done, I fitted new front pads & had a new rear silencer on it.

HOT to TROT!

Good on ya Ffoxy(y)

Personally I feel my Stilo is worth so little its pointless trading it it, I may as well enjoy cheap motoring in a what is still an attractive and nice to drive car.... in a few years things might change, but until then i'm keeping my car. Hence the recent rash of spending.

:yeahthat: Completely agree!

For the first time in 6 years we dont have a car loan to pay, we were paying 2 car loans at one point.... no more!

Next car will be a fully re-built Escort Mk 2...... tweeked of course! Then even the garages can go sook ma booby!

I'm the same, last 2 years have been loan free, so considering I forked out for a major service last year and a couple of drop links, and this year springs/wheels/tyres its still been considerably less pricey than 12months of loan repayments. :)

Roll on the next 2 years, thats my minimum plan anyway.

Plus as I recently restored my old 1992 Mini Cooper I've learned a fair bit about stripping and re-assembly, hence why i've no fear about doing maintenance like brakes, plugs etc. Although I shall admit I might let Arnold Clark do a basic service, that way my service stamp is up to date, and my service counter is reset lol. Its £40 but not really wasted for the added value of service stamps when it does come to re-sale.
