Technical Help - electrical fault ????

I have a MK 1 Punto, yesterday I took it out to get the tyres checked. At the garage I turned the heater down then turned off the engine.
When I had finished I started the car again but the heater blower and the headlights wouldn't work, all the other lights were working.
I managed to get the car home and pulled onto the drive, stopped the car and swithched off.
I thought I wolud have a quick play and started the car again and the lights and blower were working again.
Does anyone have any idea why this would happen to just the headlights and heater blower, is there some common wiring?

Check the earths are clean and tight.

I had a good look round and found a dodgy connection.
So far so good
