Hi, Looking for some advice on removing the centre piece from the steering wheel. The Horn connection has come loose but I don't want to remove the centre piece incase the Airbag goes off.

Am I right thinking that if I remove the fuse for the airbag, no.50 according to the handbook), i can remove the centre piece of the sterring wheel with no risk?

Was hoping someone whose done this before could give me the thumbs up?

Thanks in advance

Much safer to disconnect the battery and leave it for a few hours to ensure all charge has left the system.

Make sure the battery remains disconnected (i recomend taking it out of the car and putting it somewhere safe, then you cant connect it up by accident) when you remove the airbag and leave it disconnected until the job is finished, if you connect it back up without the air bag connected it will bring up the airbag warning light, which has to be reset by fiat.

:yeahthat: much safer than just taking the fuse out, but also taking the fuse out on its own would set the airbag warning light off anyway as soon as it was put back, save urself time, hassle and money (varies greatly to be reset i got mine done for 35 quid (dont rem where) most are charging upto 60  though to do it ration of about 50 to diag and a tenner to reset most likely)

Are you sure it's the horn contact? It's very common for the horn itself to play-up, or fail completely. It's easy to get to and test the wiring if need be (just open the bonnet! ;)).

if it is just the horn thats screwed in honesty its so easy to replace one bolt on the bracket and 1 cable pulls away its on the left hand side engine bay iirc..fiat sell them for about 14 quid...lot cheaper than the airbag reset..forgot about this possibility and quite common after a fair few yrs...

Hi guys! I have a problem which is that the airbag warning light suddenly came up. What should I do? Can i just find the airbag fuse and remove it?
Thanks!

have to fiat dealer is easiest the taking the fuse out would of just brough it on anyway... they will stick on diag and remove and test the error cost bout 40-60 quid. WARNING: JUST IGNORING THE WARNING LIGHT WILL MEAN IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY!!!!!
